Green Therapy 2026: A Year of Action, Connection and Wellbeing

Green Therapy 2026 will provide opportunities for more people to connect with each other and nature.

Green Therapy 2026 is shaping up to be a strong year for Positive Steps Outdoors (PSO).
Our focus stays simple: getting people outdoors, taking positive action, and supporting better mental and physical wellbeing.

Below is a snapshot of what’s coming across the year of Green Therapy 2026 and why it matters (interspersed with some images from 2025)

Green Therapy 2026 will enable people to learn about majestic settings in nature close to them

Green Therapy 2026: Community Events in Planning

Building on relationships started in 2025 we’re excited to be shaping a range of guided walks and outdoor wellbeing sessions with community and business partners, including:

YSI Ignite Community

  • Outdoor sessions focused on confidence, resilience and connection
  • Designed for young people taking early steps in leadership and enterprise
  • Why this matters: nature provides a neutral space where pressure drops and making connections feels more natural

Newry Chamber of Commerce

  • Wellbeing walks for members and staff teams
  • Focus on stress reduction, clarity of thinking and peer connection
  • Benefit: stepping away from desks helps people reset and mindfulness techniques equip them with tools for managing stress

Donegal Youth Service

  • Guided hikes with reflective and mindful activities
  • Supporting young people to build coping skills and social bonds
  • Why outdoors works: a non judgemental opportunity to practice movement in fresh air to help regulate emotions and improve mood

Green Therapy 2026 is a chance to make new relationships and strengthen existing networks.

Green Therapy 2026: Combining Outdoor and Financial Wellbeing

We’re excited to be developing a new relationship with Barclays through their Money Mentors programme, recognising the link between mental and financial wellbeing. More to follow on this.

  • Money Mentors provide clear, practical guidance on everyday money topics
  • Sessions are jargon-free and focused on real life decisions
  • By combining this with outdoor walks:
    • Conversations feel less formal and more open
    • People are more relaxed and willing to engage

Think of it like walking side-by-side instead of sitting across a table – it lowers barriers and builds trust.

Green Therapy 2026: World Congress in Mountain Medicine

PSO will be involved in the World Congress in Mountain Medicine, to be held in the Peak District, England, contributing practical healthy hikes as part of the seminar programme.

  • Guided mountain and nature-based walks
  • Focus on using the hills and moorland as as ‘treatment’ as opposed to treating mountain related injuries
  • Supporting delegates to experience, not just talk about, healthy hikes in outdoor environments

Green Therapy 2026 will challenge people, building self esteem at the same time.

Green Therapy 2026: Mental Health Awareness Week: 11–17 May

Theme: Action

This year’s theme of Action strongly aligns with what PSO stands for.

  • Action doesn’t have to be big
  • A short walk, a conversation, or stepping outside is often enough
  • Outdoor activity turns intention into something real and doable

At PSO, we believe:

  • Action builds momentum
  • Momentum builds confidence
  • Confidence supports better mental health

Green Therapy 2026: Moving Forward Together

The year ahead is about:

  • Practical wellbeing, not theory
  • Partnerships that add real value
  • Helping people take simple, positive steps outdoors

We’re looking forward to turning these plans into action, one step at a time.
